Smallbrook Stadium Suffers Multiple Break-ins

Smallbrook Stadium, the multisport and event complex in Ryde, today reported that on Friday and Sunday night the complex was subjected to a series of break-ins and attempted break-ins. The incidents happened across the stadium but were in the main directed at the Speedway offices and Premier Lounge which houses the Urban Gym and the function rooms. The Cricket Club also suffered break-ins but nothing has been reported as stolen.

Chad Wirtzfeld from Blandford in Dorset is to join the Warriors 2017 Mascots and joins Cameron Bell as a My First Skid Team rider. Chad who is just 13 has already competed in Speedway, Grass Track, Long Track in Germany, and is a former British Junior Flat track champion. Chad has won numerous meetings over the years and currently rides 250cc machines.

Tomorrow night's action, yes it's Tuesday evening action at the Andrew Younie Smallbrook Stadium this week, is the second leg of our KO Cup clash with the Kent SLYDE Kings getting underway with the riders parade at 6.45pm and the first race at 7pm. And the Warriors, fresh from thumping Weymouth 63-27 in last Thursday's challenge match will be doing all they can to overcome the substantial 24 point deficit they face from the away leg at the beginning of last month.

Despite a host of off-track activities, it was the on track action that took centre stage and saw the Wightlink Warriors totally tame the visiting Weymouth Wildcats, outclassing them by 63 points to 37 and sending them back to Dorset with their pride well and truly dented.

It's Thursday and that means it's raceday at the Andrew Younie Smallbrook stadium in Ashey Road, Ryde with the Wightlink Warriors fully intending to send the visiting Weymouth Wildcats back to the mainland on the 11pm ferry from Fishbourne with their tails firmly between their legs!

It's challenge match action for the Wightlink Warriors tomorrow (Thursday) night, with the riders parade scheduled to take place at 6.45pm, against a Weymouth Wildcats side assembled by a group of people, led by Jamie Dixon who progressed from club mascot to rider to team manager, aiming to turn their fervent hope of bringing speedway back to the Dorset coastal resort into reality.

April 2nd is the day that the Isle of Wight has been waiting for and the day when Warriors fans will have the first chance to see their team take to the Smallbrook track in 2016. It is great news for Warriors fans as Neil Vatcher has been unveiled as the Wightlink Warriors Team Manager for the 2016 season. April 14th is the date set for best South coast 4TT in years, featuring the Wightlink Warriors, Exeter, Weymouth and Southampton. The meeting will see the Warriors divided amongst the 4 teams mixed in with 8 other riders from the National League. With the pits open to fans from 5:45pm and racing from 7pm, it looks to be an ideal opportunity for our fans to welcome clubs who are all at various points in their efforts to bring back speedway.

The second meeting of the season for the Warriors looks to be an absolute cracker with a 4TT between Isle of Wight, Exeter, Weymouth and Southampton on April 14th. The meeting will see all 8 Warriors joined by another 8 riders to make 4 teams of 4. Warriors will be split amongst the 4 teams, with riders representing teams closest to where they live or have previously been associated with.

Wightlink Warriors To Open With The Vince Mapley Memorial Trophy

The Wightlink Warriors will open the 2016 season with the Vince Mapley Memorial Trophy meeting.  The meeting will celebrate the life of Vince who was a member of Team Warrior until he unfortunately passed away at the stadium whilst helping the team at Smallbrook.

Rider Introductions And Practice Day
